Meet Joey Carrion, one of our Class of 2025 graduates! Joey is heading to trade school to pursue his career goals, and we couldn’t be more excited for him. Read below to learn how his time at Esperanza Academy helped shape the next step in his journey.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be attending trade school.
What are you most excited about as you take this next step? What are you most looking forward to in life after high school?
I am most excited to learn more about my specific trade and build connections with all types of different people.
How do you think your time at EACS helped prepare you for what’s next?
My time at EACS helped prepare me by teaching me time management, how to stay organized, and not to be afraid to ask for help when I am confused.
Who or what has inspired you most on your journey so far?
My 9th-grade ELA teacher, Ms. Pizzimenti, has inspired me most. There was a time when I didn’t know what to do with my life after high school, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it to my senior year to graduate. She pushed me to keep fighting and to explore the world to get an idea of what I would enjoy doing after high school.
What advice would you give to younger students who are still figuring out their path?
I would tell them to be open-minded. As you get older, your mindset grows, and what you wanted to do after high school when you were in the 9th grade may completely change when you are in your senior year.
