Senior Spotlight: Chaniel Nunez

Meet Chaniel Nunez, one of our Class of 2025 graduates! This fall, Chaniel plans to attend Temple University on a full-ride scholarship to study music composition and code development. He’s passionate about exploring how music, visual art, acting, writing, and coding all come together to create one incredible art form—video games! Read on to learn more about his journey and the inspiration behind it.

What are your plans after graduation?

After I graduate, I plan on going to school for music composition and learn code development as a hobby.

What are you most excited about as you take this next step? What are you most looking forward to in life after high school?

What I am most excited for as I take this next step is to see what my peers and I can achieve by studying and dissecting what we truly love. Being able to master our interests and be able to shape it by adding our personality into it and share our experiences for the world to see.

How do you think your time at EACS helped prepare you for what’s next?

I think EACS prepared me for what’s next by showing that not everything is black and white; there’s always going to be obstacles, especially for those who are not privileged enough in life. EACS enhances the idea that you have to be grateful for what you have and use what you have to boost yourself, since it’s very easy to want to give up in difficult times. But the difficulty shows that you’re making progress.

Who or what has inspired you most on your journey so far?

What has inspired me the most has always been my family, friends, and unironically video games. My family and friends inspired me to never give up on my dreams, and that there will always be people there for you if you find them. Video games taught me to be passionate about everything that I do. For some people, video games are still seen as a waste of time, but video games take so much effort as they mix the arts of music, drawing, acting, writing, and code to make one whole project, which takes so much passion that it’s hard to ignore.

What advice would you give to younger students who are still figuring out their path?

If there is any advice I would give to any younger student who is still figuring out their path is that there is always a way for everything. It’s never too late to start doing what you love. Even if the school isn’t offering it or you don’t have the materials yet. You can always find a way through people and the internet. Don’t wait to follow your dreams, take a head start, because your future you will thank you for it. You are never too young or old to start something new, and if people see how passionate you are about what you make, you will inspire others to do the same.
