Meet Christopher, a proud member of EACS’s Class of 2026! Christopher is not only a current senior at Esperanza Academy, but also an Early College student, where he has been pursuing a major in Media and Technology. Through his hard work and commitment, he and 27 of his peers are on track to graduate this year with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree from Esperanza College of Eastern University. We can’t wait to see where Christopher’s journey takes him next!
What major did you choose in the Early College Program, and what inspired that decision? I chose Media and Technology as my major in the Early College Program. I decided to pick this major because I am interested in how media and technology are used in everyday life, especially with social media and creating content. This major inspired me because it allows me to be creative, learn new skills, and prepare for future opportunities.
What was your experience in the program like? My experience in the program was challenging but also a good learning experience. I only took college classes, so it helped me get used to the expectations and responsibilities of college early. My schedule required me to stay organized and manage my time well, but it helped me feel more prepared and confident about going to college in the future.
Looking back on your experience, are you glad you chose to join the program and pursue your associate’s degree? Yes. Being in the program gave me the opportunity to take college classes early and learn how to be more responsible and independent. It also helped me feel more prepared for my future education and gave me confidence in my ability to succeed in college.
What advice would you give to younger students who are considering joining the Early College program? I would say to stay organized and keep track of your work. The classes can be hard sometimes, but it’s a good chance to get a head start on college and learn new skills. I would also say don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
What are your plans after graduation? After graduation, I plan to go to college. I want to keep learning new skills and exploring different opportunities that can help me in the future.
What are you most looking forward to in this next chapter? I’m most looking forward to learning new things and trying new stuff. I want to get better at what I do and see what opportunities come my way. I’m excited to grow and see how much I can improve.
